Presidents Cup Excitement

What are everyone's thoughts on the Presidents Cup?  I know it doesn't get as the hype that the Ryder Cup does, but I feel like seeing how the US squad plays this week could be a nice look into the possibility for next year's Ryder Cup run. and it will be fun to see how the first-time guys hold up in this weird format that's these international challenge cups.  Either way, I am going to put a couple of bucks down on the singles matches and try to keep my excitement up.

It’s pretty boring in my opinion.  They should just allow the “World” players to compete on the Europe side of the Ryder cup.  Or pick regions and those play on one side or the other.  Make the field bigger and make it a few days longer.

Like any other tournament or event it is just TV entertainment.  I'll put in on some simply because I typically like having some sport on TV when I am home.

The Masters, US and British Open, Ryder Cup, are really the only ones I make an effort to watch, the others 10- or 15-minute highlights are plenty.

I'm sure I'll watch a little bit of it, but it will mainly be in the background. It's not one I ever get super excited about.

Honestly, completely forgot it was starting today. Hadn't seen much marketing for it, and hadn't heard many people talking about it until this post honestly.

Feels like it might be experiencing what the rest of the Professional Golf world is experiencing, that there is just to much incongruity between all aspects of golf right now and that people just aren't getting interested in it anymore.

I really hope that Mike Weir and the Internationals can do it this year.  Definitely a big ask, but hopefully it happens in Canada.

I still like you .  It's going to be closer this year than most IMO, and think Team USA will still win.

Switching gears a little, a question to everyone.  Putting aside all the PGA/LIV junk (as in please let's not let this inquiry go down that rabbit hole), who from LIV do you think is deserving to be on, or that you would just like to see on either team?

For Team USA, I'd like to see Bryson or Brooks for Bradley, Henley, or Homa but don't honestly think they would move the team strength needle that much.  For the International Team, I'd like to see Cameron Smith instead of Jason Day and Niemann instead of Min Woo Lee.  But again even those changes would not be big needle swings. I just miss seeing many of these guys playing in these formats.

Do you see any players that would shift team strength quite a bit?

I could see Bryson or Brooks for Harmon or Burns possibly.

Smith hasn't done just a ton from what I have read and not a Niemann fan really. I like Lee but could see Day changed out for one of those guys in that scenario.

I’ll watch it just because I like having golf on the tv.  Would like to see a close competition to keep things interesting.

I need something to watch Thursday while I'm "working" so I'll have it on. Always good just to have golf on TV. As far as excitement, it's a mild holdover in off Ryder Cup years to at least wet the appetite.

Wow, count me among the many who didn't this start.  Still lots of golf to play but that is a big hill to climb for Team International.  And, Keegan... holy heck... contrary to what Paul McGinley predicted, he's dialed in. 

It all really seemed to flip towards the USA after the Tom Kim and Sungjae Im decided to act unsportsmanlike-like and walk to the 9th tee while Scheffler and Henley were still lining up putts to tie the hole.  Kim's antics seemed to backfire.  Scheffler blew it off in the post game interview as "all good", but clearly there is some rough edges there. 

Anyone else want to see a Scheffler vs. Kim singles match?

That said, it was actually a pretty tight session.  TI had a good many near makes for ties and wins.

Kim and Scheffler are close friends from what I have seen, so I wonder if it's more of a head game.

Oh, no doubt.  Tom is totally trying to get into Scottie's head.  I think that's his best chance at beating him.

With how fired up Scottie was when he yelled back "What was that?!" After sinking that long putt to tie the hole, I think Kim might've lost the head game race there! Lol

That was not a smart move the most dangerous Animal in golf this year is a fired up Scottie and that did but man its will be interesting to see how things come along today after that absolute slaughterhouse yesterday If the internationals don't come out hot early then I think its a forgone conclusion that day one broke their spirit.

Count me as one that didn't see it happening. They had to do something otherwise the stands would have been empty on Sunday. I'm glad to see it get interesting.

Well.  That was a dumb statement.  Best golf than I’ve watch in a long time.  I do think it would be a different ball game if the LIV boys were playing.

The International Team just on fire!  That was quite the beat down on Day 2.

I wonder if they had a Smoke Meat and Poutine dinner to celebrate evening up the points against the Americans!

Sure was, I was glued to the boob tube most of the day.  Just took a break to mow the lawn. Tomorrow will be the test for sure.
